Beef that’s Better. Beef with Benefits.

Grass-fed meat is not only better for you, but the animals are raised humanely and the meat’s taste is exquisite. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids (an essential fatty acid that is also found in fresh water salmon), conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a proven cancer fighter and lean muscle-building tool, as well as vitamins A and E and numerous trace minerals.

The reason it’s so much better is because the all-grass diet gives the animals the nutrients their bodies were intended to grow on. Feedlot beef are over-fattened on grain and are often fed “by-product feedstuff” in order to cut costs. The by-product can be made from garbage, stale pastry, chicken feathers or even candy. What’s more, feedlot cattle are force-fattened and slaughtered at an alarming 15 months of age; traditionally, grass-fed beef grow to finish in about 30-36 months.

While most consumers have grown used to the bland, homogeneous taste of feedlot beef, more and more people are questioning where their grocery store food comes from and looking for something better. As a result, a movement has begun amongst ranchers who are answering the call by going back to the stockman trades of their great grandfathers. It’s bringing about the return of the original-sized animal and a far healthier, much more humane alternative to big industrial, grain-fed beef.
